UCID Welcomes its Inaugural Class of Pioneers

Over 1,000 students begin their academic journey as the university officially opens its doors, marking a historic milestone for education in Kyrgyzstan.

A palpable sense of excitement and anticipation filled the air as the University of Contemporary Innovation and Development (UCID) officially commenced its first-ever academic year, welcoming more than 1,000 students who make up its inaugural class. Hailing from across Kyrgyzstan and the wider Central Asian region, these pioneering students represent the foundation of a new era in higher education focused on technology, sustainability, and creative problem-solving.

The historic day began with an opening ceremony on the central plaza, where students, faculty, and staff gathered to celebrate the momentous occasion. The university, established in 2024, has moved swiftly from concept to reality, culminating in this vibrant first day of classes for its 16 associate's and 4 bachelor's degree programs.

"Today is more than an opening day; it is the dawn of a promise. To our first class of students: you are not just learners, you are co-creators. You are the pioneers who will help define the very character and legacy of this institution. Embrace the challenges, ask the hard questions, and work with us to build a future of innovation and positive change."
— Dr. Aida Kasymova, President of UCID

Students entering the School of Digital & Intelligent Studies expressed enthusiasm for the state-of-the-art labs and a curriculum designed in partnership with industry leaders. Meanwhile, those in the School of Sustainable Development are eager to begin fieldwork and projects aimed at addressing real-world environmental challenges in the region.

For many, like first-year business student Elnura Askarova, choosing UCID was a deliberate step towards a different kind of education. "I was looking for a university that felt modern and connected to the real world," she said. "The focus on digital entrepreneurship and the small class sizes made me feel that I wouldn't just be a number here. I feel like I can actually build something."

As the day concluded, the message was clear: UCID is officially open, and its future is now in the hands of its first, trailblazing class. Their journey, and the university's, has just begun.
